π Lesson 6: Understanding the Sacrifice
6.3 The Passover Lamb
The Blood of the Lamb β Center of the Plan of Redemption
………………………………………………………………….
π¦ Introduction
From the dark nights of the Exodus to the silence of Golgotha, a red thread runs through the Bible β the sacrifice of the Lamb. Abel already understood: one life must be given for another. When God freed Israel from Egyptian slavery, the blood of the Passover lamb was the sign of their salvation. In Jesus, this image is perfectly fulfilled. He is the true, spotless Lamb who voluntarily sacrifices Himself so that we can be free. This week, we turn our eyes to the One who gave Himself out of love, and ask ourselves: What does this mean for our daily lives?

π Bible Study
π Question 1: What do the verses teach us about Jesus as the Passover sacrifice?
The selected passages show a remarkable continuity in Godβs plan of redemption.
In Exodus 12, a lamb without blemish is chosen β a symbol of Jesus, who was without sin.
Isaiah 53 describes the Messiah as a suffering Lamb, silent and submissive unto death.
Paul, in 1 Corinthians 5:7, clearly identifies Christ as our Passover Lamb.
And in Revelation 5:6, John sees the Lamb who appears slain at the center of heaven.
This means: Jesus was not crucified during Passover by coincidence β His death was the fulfillment of a divine plan. His blood protects us from eternal death, just as the blood of the Passover lamb once saved Israelβs firstborns. It is the expression of the highest divine justice and the deepest love.
π Question 2: How can we better reflect the perfect character of Jesus?
Jesusβ life was marked by gentleness, truth, humility, and obedience to the Father. To reflect Him, three things are essential:
-
Daily connection with Him through prayer and Bible study β only those who live close to the Lamb can learn His gentleness.
-
A humble heart β like the Lamb who silently gave Himself, we too should respond not with pride, but with love.
-
Serving others β Jesus lived for others. When we share His love in practical ways, we reflect His character.

π‘ Spiritual Principles
-
True salvation comes through the blood of Christ alone, not from human effort.
-
God prepares His church by restoring in it the image of His Son.
-
Christ is both sacrifice and example β we are saved through Him and called to live like Him.

𧩠Application in Daily Life
-
Recognize: When you fail, you are not lost β the blood of the Lamb covers you too.
-
Live: Choose daily to love as Jesus loved.
-
Serve: Let your life be a living sacrifice β a testimony of God’s grace.

β Conclusion
The Passover lamb was the beginning; Golgotha was the fulfillment.
Between the blood on the doorposts and the cross on Golgotha lies a plan that leads us to freedom.
And this plan is not just history β it is present and future for everyone who places their trust in the Lamb.

π Thought of the Day
βItβs not the value of your sacrifice that matters, but the direction of your heart.β

βοΈ Illustration β “The Window Across”
Sarah lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building in Lyon. For months, she had been watching an old man through her window in the building opposite β every morning at the same time, he would light a candle, kneel, and read from a worn book. She was fascinated.
One morning, there was a knock at her door. A neighbor was distraught β the old man had collapsed. Without hesitation, Sarah rushed over. The small apartment smelled of wax and old paper. On the table lay the book β a Bible. Open to Isaiah 53.
With a trembling voice, the man asked her, βRead to me… about the Lamb.β Sarah began to read. And with every line, something began to burn inside her. The Lamb… slain… for us.
The man smiled before closing his eyes β not from weakness, but in peace. In that moment, Sarah understood: the old man had remembered the cross every day β not out of duty, but out of love.
That same evening, she lit a candle in her own apartment, opened the Bible, and began to read:
βHe was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter…β
