🌅 Introduction to the Month
September leads us into the very heart of the Christian hope: Jesus is coming again. This truth is not merely a subject of prophecy, an article of faith, or a distant thought about some undefined future. It is the Lord’s great promise to His church. The Christ who was born in Bethlehem, who died on the cross for our sins, who rose from the dead, and who now intercedes for us in heaven will return—visibly, personally, gloriously, and powerfully.
Many people associate the second coming of Jesus with fear, uncertainty, or dark images of the end times. Yet the Bible presents this event above all as a source of hope. For the children of God, the Second Coming is not the end of all joy, but the beginning of perfect joy. It is not the destruction of hope, but its fulfillment. It is not the moment when Christ appears as a stranger, but the day when the redeemed will see the One whom they have loved, awaited, and sought by faith.
Jesus Himself announced His return. He told His disciples not only that He would go away, but also that He would come again. The angels confirmed this at His ascension. The apostles proclaimed it as a source of comfort, an urgent appeal, and a living hope. Revelation ends with the promise: “Yes, I am coming soon.” Therefore, the church of God does not live in the shadow of an uncertain future, but in the light of a certain promise.
Throughout this month, we will explore the second coming of Jesus step by step. First, we will focus on the promise: Jesus has promised to return, and His word remains trustworthy. We will then consider the manner of His coming: it will not be a hidden, secret, or merely inward event. Christ will return visibly, with power and great glory, accompanied by the angels of heaven. We will then examine what will happen when He comes: the dead in Christ will rise, the living believers will be transformed, and God’s people will be with the Lord forever. Finally, we will ask how this hope should shape our lives today: through watchfulness, purity, faithfulness, love, patience, comfort, and joy.
The second coming of Jesus is not a matter of speculation for curious minds, but a truth that shapes character. Those who await Jesus live differently. They do not set their hearts permanently on this passing world, but on the coming kingdom of God. They hold fast to Christ even when the world becomes unsettled. They do not allow their hope to be determined by news reports, crises, or human sources of security, but by the Word of God. The Second Coming does not call us to panic, but to trust; not to indifference, but to watchful love; not to fear, but to holy joy.
After the month of August, when we reflected on sanctification and character development, September takes us one step further. The character Christ forms within us is not intended for a life without purpose. It prepares us to meet the King. Sanctification and the Second Coming belong together. Those who wait for Christ desire to become like Him. Those who love Him desire to be ready. Those who await His glory allow His grace to cleanse and guide them today.

The heavens will open, and humanity will recognize that God’s Word is true. For the redeemed, that day will be the answer to many prayers, tears, and struggles of faith. They will no longer merely speak about hope; they will see their hope fulfilled.

September is intended to lead our hearts from fear to joy. We do not want to treat the second coming of Jesus superficially or embellish it with sensational claims. We want to study it biblically, clearly, from an Adventist perspective, and with Christ at the center. Our primary focus is not curiosity about dates or human speculation, but the person of Jesus Christ. He is the One who is coming. He is the Redeemer. He is the King. He is the hope of His people.
This month invites us to lift up our eyes. The world may appear dark, the future uncertain, and unfolding events deeply unsettling. Yet Jesus said that His children should not despair at such times. They should look up, because their redemption is drawing near. This is the attitude of faith: not blind to reality, but firmly grounded in the promise of God.
The second coming of Jesus is therefore not merely a theme for the final day of history. It is a light for every day leading up to it. It comforts those who mourn, strengthens the weary, purifies hearts, puts our priorities in order, makes us faithful in service, and gives us courage in troubled times. Those who know that the King is coming can live with hope today.

Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank You for the great promise that Jesus is coming again.
Help me to look forward to His coming this month with hope rather than fear.
Open my heart to Your Word and show me how the second coming of Jesus should transform my life today.
Strengthen my faith, purify my hope, and fix my eyes on Christ, the coming King.
Help me to live watchfully, faithfully, lovingly, and joyfully until Jesus appears.
